Inside This Year’s Tony Awards

The 2019 Tony Award nominations will be announced April 30, and Broadway fans can expect a mix of the expected, the unexpected and the downright dumbfounding.

Putting it all in perspective will be longtime Playbill editor Robert Viagas, who spent most of his adult life breathing the air of Broadway’s backstages. He has authored or edited 19 books on the performing arts, has served on the committee that makes the Tony Awards nominations, and has hosted the Tony webcast.

Mr. Viagas will walk you through the nominees in the major categories, and outline the main conflicts, predictions, snubs, flubs, and special things to watch for in this year’s broadcast, scheduled for June 9 on CBS-TV.

In addition, Mr. Viagas leaves plenty of time to take questions from the audience, to answer all the questions that have been tugging at the curiosity of fans for years!
